According to the icrunchdata Big Data Job Index, there are currently 81,836 job postings for data science jobs. icrunchdata CEO Ron Emery tells via email that's a 30% increase in listings compared to three months ago. Demand is strong in all Big-Data related areas, with 468,628 open Big Data jobs generally (up 31% compared to 3 months ago), and 62,534 Statistics jobs.
It's interesting to contrast the number for BI jobs at just 26,961: the demand today is in clearly big-data and forward-looking advanced analytics as opposed to backwards-looking traditional business intelligence.
