The Harris Surveillance and Automation Solutions Business Area has an opening for a Systems Administrator. The successful candidate will be supporting the ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) program; the space-based extension of ADS-B, and other systems being developed by this organization. The candidate will be responsible for providing support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of systems which support mission critical air traffic control systems with a 0.99999 uptime requirements. Job Responsibilities: Build, configure and maintain Oracle T5-1 and X-3 blades which are installed inside Netra 6000 chassis. Install Dell server hardware and maintain JBOD disk storage arrays totaling over 1000 Terabytes. Provide system administration support to multiple environments including development, test, CM, performance tuning and production. Provide support to manage 12 control stations across the US including Hawaii and Guam. Provide daily systems administration support for more than 1000 instances of devices running on Solaris and Centos OS. Provide on-call support for maintenance of systems The candidate should be able to coordinate with software engineering personnel for system troubleshooting. Recommend software and hardware enhancements, diagnoses and correct issues, defines and implements new services with the goal of achieving maximum server uptime and availability for the customers. Monitoring performance, system usage. Contributes towards the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), backup systems and disk configurations. Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. 4 plus year or related experience 2-5 years’ experience in Solaris systems administration Excellent hardware and OS troubleshooting skills required. Experience installing, maintaining and tuning Solaris 10, Solaris 11 and CentOS operating systems. Experience with installation and configuration of primary and guest LDOMs and VM environments. The position requires 10% travel within the US and its territories. The candidate should also be capable of lifting and installing rack mounted servers up to 40 pounds. Preferred Additional Skills: Knowledge of active directory, Apache Server and Visio. Previous experience with FAA systems/programs is a plus. The successful candidate will possess strong initiative with an ability to work in a dynamic team-oriented environment, and strong interpersonal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will also have experience with shell scripting, system configuration management tools (preferably CFEngine) and database management experience with Oracle and MySQL.
