DATA ARCHITECT ANALYST (LONG TERM TEMPORARY)

The Loudoun County Department of Information Technology (DIT) is currently seeking a talented, highly motivated individual to serve as Data Architect Analyst for the County’s applications. The Data Architect Analyst will work under the guidance of the architecture team to work on the long-term strategic goals for data architecture vision in accordance with the technology roadmap provided by the Department of Information Technology. This position will need to work with key stakeholders to document data sources and associated data artifacts, to include data models and metadata. In addition, the position requires skills for customer engagement, collaboration and communication with business partners, data users, vendors for COTS products and other key stakeholders across the county and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment. The job would require strong understanding of data governance and the ability to model the data flows under guidance from the Data Architect. Specific job requirements include: Translate business functions into conceptual, logical and physical data models. Collaborate with internal business resources and technical teams/SMEs to understand various data sources and help in creation of metadata catalog. Map to information entities that can define how information should flow and be consumed by various departments and IT customers. Assist in designing and implementing strategy for migration of data from legacy systems to new platforms. Documentation of architectural standards, reference architectures, and data flows, processes and operating models. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and at least four years of experience supporting Data Architecture initiatives. Any certification or work related to Database management is highly desirable. Technical expertise in legacy database environments and SQL server is strongly preferred. Experience with Oracle a plus. Experience in using various modelling tools such as TOAD, Microsoft Visio is preferable. This position requires excellent analytical, technical, written, verbal, communication and presentation skills.
