The First Church of Christ, Scientist

The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts is known as The Mother Church and is the administrative headquarters of the worldwide Christian Science Church, which has branches in many countries around the world. The Christian Science Plaza is located on 14 acres in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston.

We are a non-profit, international, religious organization formed in 1879 in Boston, MA. Mary Baker Eddy founded the Church of Christ, Scientist based on the healing ministry of Christ Jesus and his teachings. The religion is known as Christian Science. The Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, are the authoritative source for Christian Science.

The First Church of Christ, Scientist (TFCCS) is comprised of two organizations:

  • Church Administration: Responsible for publishing Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures in 17 languages, maintaining the Christian Science Publishing Society, Church membership and management of Church funds.
  • The Christian Science Publishing Society: Responsible for the publishing of religious publications and periodicals (in over 15 languages), most notably the Pulitzer Prize winning news magazine The Christian Science Monitor.
