Job Description

The Disney Decision Science and Integration (DDSI) organization supports clients across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), including Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products across the globe, Disney Cruise Line, Media Networks (e.g., DATG, ESPN), and Studio Entertainment (e.g., The Walt Disney Studios, Disney Theatrical Group) in the core competencies of yield management, revenue planning, forecasting, pricing and optimization.

As a part of the DDSI organization, the Decision Science team provides consulting services and analytical solutions for the various business units across the Walt Disney Company. We specialize in creating innovative scientific models and decision support tools to optimize business decisions (e.g. business intelligence, predictive models, state-of-art optimization and machine learning science). The team consists of experts across many disciplines, including Statistics, Econometrics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, and Applied Mathematics.

This position will report to a Decision Science executive and will lead a team of Decision Science Consultants.


  • Position for success - The candidate for this position will be expected to lead and facilitate creation and adoption of new innovative science and technology to ensure the Disney Decision Science team is able to create and implement value-add analytical solutions for the business. This includes the development and movement of analytics tools into the cloud (e.g., AWS and DTSS provided services) and various big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Qubole, Snowflake). This includes migration of existing tools into open source tools (Python/R). Moreover, the candidate will play a key leadership role in projects across the department ensuring all are adopting the latest science and technology standards and best practices.
  • Exercise leadership - Lead and develop a team of analytical professionals who are responsible for data analysis, modeling, solution development, sustainment and, broad product/client management across TWDC.
  • Collaborate with key partners - Lead interactions with our vendors and internal TWDC teams such as Project Management, Data Integration, and various segment specific analytics and technology groups (Corporate, Studios, DATG, ESPN, Consumer Direct, etc.).
  • Consult with executives - Exhibit critical strategic thinking, consulting skills and creative problem solving as this position will be working with fairly senior executives on scoping work, shaping deliverables, setting priorities, hitting deadlines, and communicating solutions into results that can be understood and acted upon.

Basic Qualifications

  • Five or more years of decision science implementation experience and three plus years of experience combining advanced analytics, consulting and/or managing analytical teams
  • Deep hands-on experience leading the design, development and deployment of business software at scale and understanding of emerging technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience
  • Proven experience with software/system development life cycle (SDLC) and iterative science development methodologies
  • Sufficient understanding of cloud services technology and integration (e.g., Amazon AWS, Spark, etc.) to support the design, architect and implementation of cloud based science solutions
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and inspire team members
  • Proven ability to serve as a strategic thought partner to executive leadership
  • Successful partnering experience with technology departments, data integration and decision science based resources to solve complex business problems
  • Experience translating and communicating complex problems and solutions to all levels of an organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seven plus years of decision science implementation experience
  • Experience leading highly-available and fault-tolerant enterprise decision science software deployments
  • Knowledge and use of software configuration management tools

Required Education

  • Master of Science degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Education

  • PhD in an applied mathematics field (e.g., Operations Research, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, etc.)
