Job Description

Comprised of Disney’s international media businesses and the Company’s various streaming services, the Direct-to-Consumer and International segment aligns technology, content and distribution platforms to expand the Company’s global footprint and deliver world-class, personalized entertainment experiences to consumers around the world. This segment is responsible for The Walt Disney Company’s direct-to-consumer businesses globally, including the ESPN+ sports streaming service, programmed in partnership with ESPN; the upcoming Disney-branded direct-to-consumer streaming service; and the Company’s ownership stake in Hulu. As part of the Direct-to-Consumer and International segment, Disney Streaming Services, developer of the ESPN+ and Disney-branded streaming platforms, oversees all consumer-facing digital technology and products across the Company.

The Senior Director will be the go-to experimentation and analytic partner for the Business GM driving improvements in understanding customer and content engagement and growth by analyzing, measuring and recommending solutions. They will partner with other leaders in the Data team to ensure knowledge sharing, transparency and help in setting data standards and cross-functional communication. They will lead a team that has a diverse set analytics skills - test design and analysis, lift modeling, analytic reporting, dashboarding, and tooling - to discover strategic insights and guide decision making.

The Senior Director will lead a new team of analysts aimed at increasing business results through the combination of statistical leadership, data analysis, and fast paced execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of analysts and data scientists focused on discovering causal inferences through modeling and experimentation with a focus on defining and moving business KPIs.

  • Execute test designs and work with Product, Engineering and Data leads to ensure cleanliness of approach.

  • Be hands-on and work with massive datasets in real time and batch processing with superior analytics skills and presenting results in a clear manner.

  • Present to and working with Senior Executives.

  • Apply data mining techniques and build high quality predictions that are both actionable and understandable to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

  • Lead and expand a team that can deliver on short-term requests along with complex analyses and forecasting.

  • Balance pragmatism with scientific rigor to improve decision making as the product iterates quickly with a bent toward actioning.

  • Contribute in technical discussions on data standards and tooling

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience with mixed data skill sets and approaches (analytics, analytic tools, and data science); experience with rapid product and tool development preferred

  • 4+ years experience in building, managing, and leading a high-performing data analytics team

  • Experience with international markets, growth marketing a plus

  • Proficiency in a programming language used for data analysis (R/Python), know SQL and have experience with data warehousing systems like Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery.

  • Masters degree in a quantitative or computational field (ie, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics or an emphasis in quantitative methods or business analytics etc.) ideally with a background in testing and modeling.
