Job Description

The AWS Security Operations Center (AWS SOC) is looking for an ambitious and resourceful Systems Development Engineer with an interest in developing tools, automation, and services to bridge the gap between systems and operations.

On a “typical” day, engineers might deep dive to find the root cause a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way, analyze large data sets to produce reports, or design new approaches to automate operational issues. You will work with key stakeholders and customers to build tools and services that will raise the bar on operations at the AWS SOC. If you believe learning is a lifelong experience, then the AWS SOC is the place for you. We are constantly creating and delivering new, innovative solutions. Come join the team tasked with maintaining physical security on a global scale.

This position will require participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

  • 3+ years’ overall Systems Administration or Engineering experience
  • 2+ years’ experience with at least one modern scripting or programming language (C#, Python, Ruby, Java etc.)
  • 2+ years’ experience with Database Structures and Administration
  • 2+ years’ experience with automation via scripting/PowerShell/Python/Ruby/Bash programming

  • Bachelor in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field
  • Ability to independently collect, research, and analyze information from a variety of sources to solve problems and build solutions
  • Success delivering products/services in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of cloud architecture/infrastructure and general networking principles
  • High attention to detail with a proven ability to work on multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

Amazon is an Equal Opportunity Employer – Minority / Women / Disability / Veteran / Gender Identity / Sexual Orientation / Age
