Job Description

The Disney Decision Science and Integration (DDSI) consulting team is responsible for supporting clients across The Walt Disney Company including Direct-to-Consumer & International, Media Networks (e.g., ABC, ESPN), Studio Entertainment (e.g., The Walt Disney Studios, Disney Theatrical Group) and Parks, Experiences & Consumer Products. DDSI leverages technology, data analytics, optimization, statistical and econometric modeling to explore opportunities, shape business decisions and drive business value.

The DDSI Data Integration (DI) team is looking to fill a technical hands-on role to work across current and upcoming projects such as DLR Rubiks/MIRS, Resorts Dynamic Pricing (RDP), and Forecast Analytics (FA).

Responsibilities:

This position requires a close partnership with MSI, Science and Technology team members to perform activities such as data requirements gathering, data validation scripting and review, producing and/or reviewing data aggregation datasets for our Science Models and Tableau visualizations, building and monitoring daily batch update processes, creation of Tableau reports, and ad-hoc activities required by the projects. Expertise functioning as a technical lead and having hands-on proficiency with SQL, Tableau, Python, Spark, PySpark, SparkSQL, and Hadoop/Hive will be necessary in this role.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of overall technology experience
  • Proven track record functioning as a Technical Lead (guiding/directing other technical resources) on projects
  • 5+ years of experience and proficiency in SQL (on a variety of database platforms)
  • 2+ years of expertise developing with Python
  • Experience and proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Hands-on expertise with PySpark and SparkSQL on company projects
  • Experience with Hadoop/Hive
  • Background with ETL and ELT tools and processes
  • Strong analytical skills in data analysis
  • Experience with Github/Gitlab for software development and promotion
  • Demonstrated partnering and communication skills; able to shift readily between technical and non-technical terminology depending on audience
  • Experience and proficiency in requirements elicitation and documentation for data processing
  • Experience and proficiency in developing automated data validation test scenarios and scripts
  • Proficiency acquiring, organizing, cleansing and manipulating large amounts of data
  • Proven sense of responsibility and the ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with project management tools, including Smartsheet and Version 1
  • Hands-on experience interacting with Technology teams to promote code across multiple environments
  • Experience and proficiency in developing automated data transformation processes
  • Solid understanding of AWS
  • Database design and implementation experience

Required Education:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Business Analytics, or other quantitative field

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Business Analytics, or other quantitative field
