Job Description

The University of New Mexico's Project ECHO has an amazing opportunity for you to join our Project Management Office (PMO) as an IT Project Manager 2! You will work with the PMO office for the ECHO Nursing Home COVID Action Network. The project aims to train and support nursing home staff on best practices for protecting patients, staff, and visitors from deadly coronavirus infection and spread.

As a successful IT Project Manager 2, you will have proven experience independently managing well-defined, medium complexity projects and be process- and systems-oriented. You will be a problem solver that uses strong verbal and written communication skills, and has the ability to harmonize multiple inputs and perspectives to create a shared vision for action. You will play an active role in working across multiple teams and internal stakeholders and participating in:

  • Championing and advocating for the project team members and assisting in the planning and implementation of process improvements across the organization

  • Developing data collection processes and systems for data analysis, reporting and visualization of programmatic metrics; uses Excel, business intelligence and data visualization tools, such as Power BI and Tableau

  • Creating and maintaining project and resource plans using tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, and Teamwork

  • Providing regular status reports for PMO and key stakeholders

  • Leading project planning sessions and status meetings

  • Maintaining up to date project requirements and track requirement changes throughout the project lifecycle

  • Implementing change control procedures that include setting up the Change Control Board that reviews and approves change requests and evaluates impacts to deadlines, resources and budgets

  • Working with project teams to ensure that approved changes are communicated and project plans modified as required

  • Monitoring project plans, tracking resources against planned work and providing feedback and risk mitigation plans to stakeholders

  • Maintaining all project documentation including: project requirements, assumptions and issues logs, and project status reports to ensure that deliverables are aligned with the project goals and objectives

  • Consulting and sharing common project artifacts, methods, and templates with project team members for operational efficiencies and effectiveness

  • Providing data analysis, reporting and visualization of programmatic metrics with project team members; looks for ways to standardize reporting

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years' experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified

  • At least 3 years independently managing medium- to high-complexity projects using standard project management methods, tools and templates; use of Waterfall or Agile methodologies

  • Experience using a project planning software tool such as Microsoft Projects, Smartsheets, Teamwork

  • Experience with data collection, analysis and reporting using Excel and business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
