Job Description

The data analyst in the production engineering group is responsible for optimizing the visualization and reporting of key performance OEE metrics at Giga Factory New York. As a data and process analyst, you will deliver process improvements, systems capabilities, and data insights that are critical to improving our cost and efficiency at the factory.

You will work closely with the Tesla data engineering team as well as stakeholders at GFNY to identify key process and systems improvements. You will be a leader in developing solutions and breaking barriers in data mining as well as data analysis for the factory. This requires you to acquire deep subject matter knowledge about the production processes, systems, and KPIs. It is essential that you can think strategically, connecting the dots in the bigger picture, as well as being comfortable in the details of the deliverables. To be a successful candidate for this role you must be a self-motivated, driven individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You must be very comfortable working with big data and continuously seek opportunities for improvement.

The Responsibilities:

  • Identify process gaps and areas for optimization and automation
  • Gather and define business requirements for the data engineering team
  • Work with business stakeholders and industrial engineering team to develop elegant, efficient solutions for the manufacturing line
  • Define key performance indicators to track process operational performance and apply data mining, analysis, and visualization for KPI reporting
  • Drive problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives to improve manufacturing processes
  • Support management with dashboards, KPIs and ad-hoc analyses

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data analytics or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability
  • 2+ years’ work experience in supply chain, manufacturing, or business operations
  • Exceptional ability to query, analyze and present data to a broad audience effectively
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis
  • Structured, data-driven and quantitative problem-solving approach.
  • Proven ability to set expectations, manage to deadlines and hold individuals and teams accountable to critical milestones
  • Ability to drive strategic discussions and convert strategy to action
  • SQL, Programming (R, Python) and Tableau skills
  • Collaborative, flexible, open working style and an ability to establish trust and credibility
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Preferences:

  • Work experience in manufacturing strongly preferred
  • Experience with Agile methodology for project management
