Job Description

The American Dental Education Association is seeking to add an experienced Senior Data Analyst to its team of high performing professionals.

Position Summary

The ADEA Office of Educational Pathways is focused on the goals of recruiting, outreach, engagement and the provision of application services with prospective students interested in the dental professions. As such, the Office of Educational Pathways through its recruitment and outreach efforts and the Centralized Application Services seeks to improve access, affordability, diversity, inclusion and success for prospective students applying to dental education programs. You will report to the Chief of Educational Pathways and as a part of the Educational Pathways team, you will lead the development of research approaches and data collection protocols for analysis of internal data, as well as the collection of data through surveys related to the dental professions applicant pool. You will apply wide-ranging knowledge about admissions and enrollment data in the creation of new reports and data visualizations as related to recruitment and outreach activities and ADEA Centralized Applications Services. Additionally, you will analyze and summarize complex data in effective and innovative ways, such as informational dashboards, interactive data visualizations and reports. You will be responsible for identifying appropriate data analysis protocols and related instruments.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Researches, gathers, analyzes and summarizes information for research and data projects related to recruitment initiatives and the centralized application services with a broad range of internal and/or current historical information.
  2. Assesses existing data using sophisticated statistical techniques and prepares appropriate reports.
  3. Provides high-quality data and analyses in support of Educational Pathways recruitment and outreach activities and ADEA Centralized Application Services. Identifies gaps and additional required data analyses.
  4. Monitors and analyzes demographic trends in recruitment, admissions and enrollment and determines needed data to support Educational Pathways recruitment and outreach efforts.
  5. Responds to requests for information and analysis, which may require complex extractions, analyses and reporting/visualization of information contained within survey or application services databases.
  6. Creates well-designed surveys for Educational Pathways activities (in-person events and virtual events) and recruitment initiatives using tools such as, Qualtrics, etc.
  7. Analyzes quantitative survey data and build data visualizations and reports using quantitative survey data.
  8. Utilizes creative presentation techniques to engage interest in Educational Pathways analyses that will aid in decision making and support the implementation of projects and new initiatives.
  9. Develop and communicate data insights and research findings to diverse audiences.
  10. Initiates and creates interactive, accurate and modern data visualization from scratch.
  11. Use data visualization tools including dashboards and presentation formats to help others understand and utilize Educational Pathways data.
  12. Make recommendations and assist Educational Pathways team members in identifying issues that require further study and analysis.
  13. Regularly engage in data analysis, periodically producing reports and information that informs strategic decision making for Educational Pathways.

Six Month Goals:

  • Review and assess current data for Educational Pathways application services and make recommendations for specific data analyses.
  • Create data visualization table for current data report on application services applicant trend numbers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience is required.
  • Degree in mathematics, research, statistics, information/data science, preferred.
  • At least three years of experience analyzing data, writing reports and creating visualizations.
  • Experience developing and executing analyses and ability to produce data and information products.
  • Experience with SPSS including the ability to run frequencies/means, crosstabs, t-tests and ANOVAs.
  • Experience with SAS programming.
  • Familiarity with Tableau or other data visualization software.
  • Experience in building data visualizations in Excel or PowerPoint.
  • Experience in quantitative survey questionnaire design and knowledge of survey design best practices.
  • Experience with Qualtrics or similar online survey tools.
  • Knowledge of higher education and/or admissions and enrollment trends, highly desired.
  • Familiarity with application management software, admissions and application processes, highly desired.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Track record of overseeing multiple high-level priorities (daily operations and strategic planning) while also maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience developing and maintaining strong business relationships with clients.
  • Experience in SaaS (software as a service) operations management.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills ability to present complex ideas clearly, concisely and credibly both verbally and in writing. Reasonable comfort presenting to both individuals and groups.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team-based environment, make decisions under pressure and interpret feedback to make appropriate changes to the position workflow. A successful candidate must be self-aware, organized, confident and accountable and can work successfully in a diverse, collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work at ADEA's DC office as needed and travel for ADEA meetings (estimated 2x a year).
