THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a Senior Director IT Networking and Data Center to provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise. In this key role your experience and understanding of current and next generation Networking and Data Center technologies is greatly valued. You will lead global teams, partner across IT, AMD Engineering and suppliers to optimize AMD’s Global Network and Data Center footprint.

The Senior Director IT Networking and Data Center will be reporting to the CVP IT Global Infrastructure Services.

THE PERSON:

As a leader in IT, you will help to transform the IT Networking and Data Center functions with your vision—influencing others and inspire change at all levels with your thought leadership. You are known for your ability to effectively partner with multi-faceted stakeholder groups to solve problems and deliver highly available, cost-effective solutions and services prioritizing end-user productivity and balancing security requirements. You bring strong technical expertise and passion for operations and customer service to lead an organization deliver a world-class global network and data centers. Your leadership experience in IT infrastructure operations and architecture in everything Networking and Data Center will enable you to be an integral part of our IT team!

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Develop a vision for the Global AMD Network and Data Center footprint, and drive a strategy to achieve that.
  • Lead roadmap planning and architecture development to support business growth and agility enabling Engineering product development and bring-up.
  • Annual and long-term budget planning.
  • Collaborate with peers across IT and Information Security to design and implement next generation Networking and Data Center solutions.
  • Oversee the program/project delivery and develop execution standards for effective and timely service delivery globally.
  • Formalize functional business requirements into service requirements, including business-side ownership of the required change management process to successfully deliver solutions and services.
  • Analyze patterns in business activity cycles and user personas to understand, anticipate, and influence business demands.
  • Measure, monitor, and maintain the team’s ability to meet or exceed Service Level Objectives.
  • Identify critical system issues and engage cross-functional teams and external vendors for timely incident resolution and problem management for recurring issues.
  • Perform periodic assessment of the environment and take proactive steps to mature the technology, process, and associated services delivery, drive automation roadmap.
  • Leverage proven, emerging, and innovative technologies to enhance the user experience, mitigate security risks and improve service delivery.
  • Partner across AMD Business and Engineering team for AMD-on-AMD opportunities.
  • Foster strong internal and external networks and work with and across multiple teams to achieve business objectives.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven track record delivering technology solutions and improving Network and Data Center services for Fortune 500 companies and emphasis on high performance computing.
  • In depth knowledge of data center technologies, facilities and infrastructure.
  • Experienced in interfacing with Data Center Services and Co-Location providers.
  • Deep knowledge of data center network topology and equipment layout for redundancy and to optimize power utilization and space.
  • Solid understanding of Evergreen IT and Zero Trust concepts and architecture.
  • Strong focus on operational excellence and service delivery while balancing forward looking view on strategy and capacity planning.
  • Overall understanding of IT Infrastructure, Cybersecurity and data privacy, and how to balance the requirements with employee productivity objectives.
  • Skilled in High Availability, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading high-performing teams.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: BS/MS in EE, CS, or similar

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.  Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position. You may be eligible for incentives based upon your role such as either an annual bonus or sales incentive.
