Job Overview: Texas Monthly is seeking an experienced and passionate data analyst to support successful digital product development, audience growth, and audience engagement. A successful candidate will possess significant experience with Google Analytics, BI tools, SQL, reporting design, and analytical methodologies in order to effectively track, analyze, and develop strategies to grow traffic, deepen engagement, and scale reader loyalty. This role with work closely with editorial, product, technical, and marketing teams to foster a culture of data-driven decision making. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports regarding all aspects of web traffic and certain marketing activities Translate data analysis into actionable insights Ensure data integrity and champion improvements Proactively conduct deep dive investigations and discover areas for optimization Become the go-to team member for all data-related decision making by the marketing, editorial, and executive teams Establish new KPIs and monitor existing KPIs related to all content and audience development initiatives Be responsible for organization and quality of our data warehouses, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Parse.ly and our Customer Data Platform Consistently learn and improve your skills in data analytics and related development with off-hours research and share your knowledge with the team regularly Help translate data into business decisions and insight Proactively manage and report on metrics and key business goals Write your own SQL or code necessary for reporting purposes Discover what questions need to be asked and seek to answer them Successful candidates will possess the following skills/abilities: Familiar with Google Analytics, Google BigQuery, Google Optimize, Google Tag Manager, Parse.ly, Power BI (or another BI solution) Familiar with ETL pipelines Familiar with HubSpot Proficient with SQL Eager and capable of effectively communicating analysis and findings with other team members and stakeholders Ability to create data feeds and build reporting dashboards in Tableau, Power BI, Data Studio or other dashboarding systems Prior experience with customer acquisition and leveraging data to optimize for specific metrics You must love to find the hidden gold and glean business direction from data!
